1) Could you please introduce yourself?
I am Kemuel Chiendamunyama. Kemuel means raised by God/ God has risen and I was born in Zimbabwe, Harare. I was raised in Limpopo, Polokwane and I went to a Christian school in both Primary and secondary school. My parents are Ministers, dad is a Bishop and mom is a Reverent. I’m a middle child – 2nd born. I have two sisters Tatendashe and Princess and I am Zimbabwean by nationality.
2) Please take us through your musical journey?
I started singing in church and developed a passion for song writing and music. I then started writing songs for people at age 17 and realised I enjoyed it and started taking it seriously.
3) What has been your biggest musical achievement that surprised you?
Getting recognition for a song titled ALL IN YOU in 2022. It was one of the biggest songs in SA. I never thought the song would blow up the way it did.
4) What are your hobbies and interests?
Modelling, Content creating, acting and music.
5) Who would you like to work with in the future and why?
Sun EL, Kabza De Small and Master KG, that is locally and internationally Tems and Aryra Star. Why? I love their raw interpretation and authenticity to music. I believe music is supposed to move people and tell a story that we can relate to and these artists have challenged the way I view storytelling and have been a great influence in my song writing.
6)Which African musician inspires you the most?
Tamy Moyo! She is a Zimbabwean artist and is authentic to her culture, language and she shows this in her song writing whilst remaining relevant and relatable to everyone. She is the clear example of ‘a gifted girl who goes after her dream and makes it happen’ regardless of any obstacles.
7)Do you think there are some negative stereotypes that come with being a musician and how do you overcome them?
Definitely! I’ve always been a firm believer that I am who God says I am, this is what my parents impacted in me at a young age and it has worked for me all my life. What I think I become! If I think and believe I am different so it shall be, therefore I do not allow stereotypes to be attached to me and this is how I overcome them. know who you are, stick to what you value, block the noise and focus on what is inside of you.
8)What can your fans expect from you in the future?
Many collaborations with big people in the industry and an EP. Expect the unexpected!
